Stressful times

So then came the Engagment party which we had at De Luca's Studio, our family business. It was wonderful and I would have loved to invite more people but we had to cap it at 125, being our family and wedding party.

We have 10 groomsmen (2 best men), 8 bridesmaids, 1 maid of honor, 2 junior bridesmaids and 2 groomsmen, 1 beautiful flower girl, and 1 extremely cute ring bearer.

In Winnipeg, there is also the tradition of a wedding social. A party to support the bride and groom with their special day, having music, dancing, food, and a silent auction.
This is coming up on Friday, April 3 at St. Norbert Arena. It holds 1000 people so we are hoping to fill the place and have an amazing party and a wicked time!

So this is the time of year where the stress is starting to kick in.

I have my dress for the social, accessories, hair appointment booked but there is so much planning which goes into this one night and we both want it to go well.

There are donations to collect, prize baskets to make, decorations and food to order, tickets to sell...it is both fun and stressful all at once! I am also a full time student and pilates teacher and dance teacher so my days are pretty busy already.

Well, I have to head off to class so I will continue with the social planning next time!

The Proposal

The Proposal

When Amedeo proposed it was such a thrill and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with this wonderful man. When you know you know!
The night he did it, we went out for dinner with friends and my sis and brother who was in town from Washington. Later that night we went to Blush, a nightclub owned by a good friend of Amo's. We headed to his place later that night, well his parents place (as you know if you come from an Italian background most children still live at home until they get married so we were both living with the parents).
We were relaxing and talking and he starting getting into deep conversation about us and our relationship. At the edge of the bed he started to get down on one knee and I saw this little box in his hand which he was holding behind his back. It was so unexpected! I was shocked at surprised and a rush of feelings came about me. It was wonderful.
Well, after I said yes! the party began. We called everyone over at 2 a.m. to celebrate the news and I couldn't stop smiling for days.

The next day the planning began! The church, photographer, reception hall. Everything had to be available on the same day and which day? We settled on August 29th at the Fairmont as Amo had proposed on the 29th and August is a beautiful month in Winnipeg, the land of cold and snow.

Our photographer is Rygiel Phorography. They look like so much fun!

We also need a hall that would accommodate 400 guests, with impecable service and great food. We settled on the Fairmont and I think it's going to be a great evening.

Diary of a Blushing Bride

Well, today I just purchased some more prizes for the social baskets. You wouldn't believe how much stuff is needed to fill these things. We are going to have a travel basket so I bought some luggage and some tanning minutes from a tanning salon.

The bridesmaid dressing have now been chosen and will be ordered shortly. I also have the bridesmaid gifts purchased.

My shoes are on their way! My brother is bringing them when he comes to visit again. I had to order them and get them shipped to the US.

Well, I'm off to study so I'll write more soon! Ciao

Diary of a Blushing Bride

As every bride knows, planning a wedding can be a fun, exciting, stressful, and crazy experience!
I would like to share with you my experiences as I plan for my wedding on August 29th, 2009.

So far things are going well and making decisions one small bit a time reduces the overwhelming feeling of planning a wedding.
My fiance and I are both Italian with large families so we are expecting a large wedding of about 400 people attending.

I will be a wonderful experience with a lot of planning and attention to detail. I am a bit of a perfectionist so the details are VERY important to me.

I will fill you in on the background of Amedeo (Amo for short) and my relationship and how he proposed:
Our families had known each other since they lived only a few towns away from each other in Southern Italy. Both my parents and his moved to Canada to start a better life for us. My family started a business here in Winnipeg and Amo's mom worked there for many years. As we got older (15-16) I started to help out as my summer job waiting tables, making coffees, answering phones, and Amo worked as a dishwasher. We used to flirt like crazy! He was such a cutie and a mature 2 years older so naturally I fell in love.

Well, as the years went by, I moved to Toronto, worked on a cruise ship as a dancer and was living the life. I would come back to Winnipeg to visit my family after every contract and we would see each other out.
His sister ended up marrying my cousin so I used to go over and visit their 2 girls all the time and Amo would be there too so we always got a chance to chat and see each other. He was one of those people where I would always wonder what he was up to?

When I decided to move back for good we were both single and actually entertained the fact of dating. Well, we hit it off. The timing was right and we had such a blast together. I really didn't think we would click so well but we did!

That's all for now! Ciao
